The Royal Princess Deluxe Balcony Stateroom
Membership Rewards ProgramTerms and Conditions for the Membership Rewards® program apply. My TA is an AmEx travel agent and she told me to get it, you have to book deposit with the card and pay the fare in full with it too. It’s not necessary to book the trip through AMEX Travel. Also, I note that the cruise lines don’t offer the perk if you book directly with them.
Enjoy exclusive benefits with the Cruise Privileges Program
Any credits applicable are applied at check-out in USD or the local currency equivalent. Benefits, participating properties, and availability and amenities at those properties are subject to change. To be eligible for FHR program benefits, your eligible Card Account must not be cancelled. For additional information, call the number on the back of your Card. The Hotel Collection (THC) benefits are available for new bookings of two consecutive nights or more made through American Express Travel with participating properties and are valid only for eligible U.S. Consumer and Business Gold Card, Platinum Card® Members, and Centurion® Members.
Amex Platinum cruise benefits
For example, Costco only accepts Visa cards now, after switching from Amex only in 2016. Plus, despite the good number of foreign countries where you can use American Express cards, acceptance is on a merchant-by-merchant basis. At TPG, we're big #avgeeks but many of us also love cruises. From adult-only cruises, to family-friendly options such as the Disney Cruise Line, these days there's a cruise for almost every type of traveler. You don't have to employ every one of these tips to save money on your next sailing, but keep them in mind to make smart decisions as you plan your next vacation and once you're on board.
How to Earn American Express Rewards on Cruises
Have already contacted my travel agent to arrange for benefits for our upcoming Constellation cruise and will know exactly which, if any, benefits apply once she contacts the appropriate AmX department tomorrow. We found the American Express Platinum’s CPP was a great way to get additional benefits when booking cruises through American Express Travel. In our case, we got a $200 Amex onboard credit (that stacked with other Princess promotions), we earned 2x American Express Membership points on the cruise and onboard spending, and we got an additional exclusive welcome gift. To use Pay with Points, you must charge your eligible purchase through American Express Travel to a Membership Rewards® program-enrolled American Express® Card. Eligible purchases through American Express Travel exclude non-prepaid car rentals and non-prepaid hotels. Points will be debited from your Membership Rewards account, and credit for corresponding dollar amount will be issued to the American Express Card account used.
Here are my 33 top tips on how to save on a cruise. Each cruise line has its own fine print when it comes to Amex Cruise benefits, so make sure to read up on all the details before booking. Assuming your cruise booking meets all of these qualifications, you have a few valuable benefits to look forward to on your trip.
For example, on my Celebrity Cruises, Celebrity offered $600 OBC. CruisinNana-- I wish you good luck with the combinability! Given that they don't double the 300 OBC when there are two AmEx cardmembers in the room, it seems unfair they should be able to scale it back for single cabin occupancy. We use the X AMEX card to charge most everything, and just go on the webiste and cash in our points. When I get Amex one my experience is it shows up in planner.
Has anybody here booked &/ returned from a cruise through the new AmEx Cruise Privileges Program? But as others have mentioned, that is a possibility. Do you have a screen shot of your pricing when you booked. And may it have been they took the $200.00 off of your pricing at time of booking vs it being OBC from Royal? I dont remember seeing RCL give that much OBC for a balcony.
It's always OK to splurge a little on vacation, but you want to make sure you're not spending unnecessarily. What matters is that you're getting the biggest benefit from your vacation buck. You don't need to shell out big bucks for an organized tour in every port.
To keep costs down, skip the beach break tour and walk or take a bus or taxi to the beach. Do your own walking tour with a guidebook or app. Go on a hike or take yourself to a cathedral or museum.
Fine Hotels + Resorts® (FHR) program benefits are available for new bookings made through American Express Travel with participating properties and are valid only for eligible U.S. Consumer, Business, and Corporate Platinum Card® Members, and Centurion® Members. Additional Platinum Card Members on Consumer and Business Platinum and Centurion Card Accounts are also eligible for FHR program benefits. Bookings must be made using an eligible Card and must be paid using that Card, or another American Express® Card, in the eligible Card Member's name, and that Card Member must be traveling on the itinerary booked. The average total value of the program benefits is based on prior-year bookings for stays of two nights; the actual value varies. Noon check-in and room upgrade are subject to availability and are provided at check-in; certain room categories are not eligible for upgrade.
I've sort of given up on this for my Royal cruises, as it seems like my fare is never combinable, and I used to get better travel insurance benefits/more credit card points by using a different credit card. However, I have had success with it for my Cunard sailings, and Amex Plat travel insurance has improved recently. My travel agent is also signed up with American Express Platinum and had my $300 OBC applied to my January 7th sailing when I made my final payment in late September. It required her to contact someone at American Express to verify the booking was eligible (all payments made with Amex platinum) and then either she or they applied a “code” to the booking.
To see the cruises available through American Express Travel, head to Amex's cruise website and pare down your results by destination, month and cruise line. All users of our online services are subject to our Privacy Statement and agree to be bound by the Terms of Service.
With Platinum Destinations Vacations, each trip you take gets you closer to the next. If you make a new Cruise Privileges Program booking through American Express Travel for an eligible cruise, you'll get an onboard credit and amenity. This means booking through Amex Travel may be better than booking directly with the cruise line.

I always recommend trying the local cuisine in port, both because it's a fun way to experience a new culture and to support the local economy. But if you're on a budget and need to cut costs, skip the meals in port and head back to the ship for meals in the many included eateries on board. If nothing else, avoid the over-priced and often inauthentic waterside tourist restaurants and ask around for where locals eat on the cheap — or skip the lunch and treat yourself to a cheaper gelato or pastry instead. Taxi rides can add up for a couple traveling together.
